We had the honor of taking part in a 3GNY – Descendants of Holocaust Survivors gathering in Long Island at the Mid Island Y Jewish Community Center. Hearing the grandchildren of Holocaust survivors speak, 80 years after the end of Holocaust and World War II, was profoundly moving.
There is a shared foundation to memory, and especially a shared desire to learn lessons from the Holocaust and pass them on to the younger generation. Learning about their work in schools and how they share their families’ stories with today’s youth was truly inspiring.
We also had the opportunity to share ASHER’s work and offer a glimpse into our unique collection of 150 photographs from the Warsaw Ghetto, together with the stories that lay behind them. This represents the essence of ASHER’s work advancing Holocaust education and taking away lessons that are so relevant and necessary for us today.
