ASHER was proud to partner with the Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee to launch a first-of-its-kind educational seminar in Munich and Nuremberg, Germany for school district leaders and educators from Sarasota and Manatee counties.
The seminar, When Hate Becomes Law, provided participants with an immersive educational experience exploring the rise of Nazi Germany, the erosion of democratic institutions, and the enduring roots of antisemitism. Through firsthand engagement with these historic sites, educators strengthened their knowledge and returned equipped to bring meaningful Holocaust education to their classrooms.
Throughout the program, the group visited significant sites including the Ohel Moshe Synagogue in Munich, the Documentation Center in Nuremberg, memorials commemorating the Munich Jewish community, and the monument at Munich’s Central Train Station honoring those deported to Dachau. Each location offered opportunities for meaningful learning and dialogue.
By engaging with history at its source, participants returned with a deeper understanding of the Holocaust and a renewed commitment to strengthening Holocaust education in their schools and communities. Through partnerships like this, ASHER continues to empower educators with the knowledge and tools to ensure the lessons of the Holocaust inspire future generations to confront antisemitism, hatred, and intolerance.
