ASHER was honored to partner with the Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee for two meaningful programs featuring renowned Holocaust scholar and educator Dr. Michael Berenbaum.
The centerpiece of the visit was an evening presentation exploring the true story behind Nuremberg, the film for which Dr. Berenbaum served as a historical advisor. Attendees gained insight into the complex questions of justice, accountability, and human behavior that emerged in the aftermath of the Holocaust, including the psychological confrontation between Nazi leader Hermann Göring and U.S. Army psychiatrist Douglas Kelley. Dr. Berenbaum’s expertise and firsthand involvement with the film offered a unique and thought-provoking perspective on this pivotal moment in history.
In addition to the evening program, Dr. Berenbaum participated in a special luncheon hosted in partnership with Jewish Family & Children’s Services in recognition of Holocaust Survivor Day. The gathering honored local Holocaust survivors and celebrated their resilience, strength, and enduring legacy.
These programs reflect ASHER’s commitment to ensuring that the lessons of the Holocaust remain relevant and accessible for future generations. Through partnerships with communities across the country, ASHER continues to advance education, remembrance, and meaningful dialogue that confronts antisemitism and hatred.
