Zikaron BaSalon with Survivor Lori Raskin

Lori with Bobbi and Suzie

Historic days are unfolding around the world, and within this reality we return to the historical story of our people, and to the remarkable story of Holocaust Survivor, Mrs. Lori Raskin.  Born in Rosvadov, Poland in October, 1936, as a young child Lori fled with her family from the advancing Nazis.  Their escape ended in deportation to Siberia in freezing cattle cars, followed by severe hunger and hardship, and later relocation to Uzbekistan, where Lori was separated from her parents and placed in an orphanage at age five.  After the war and time in a displaced persons camp in Germany, American relatives sponsored the family’s immigration to the United States in 1949.

Special thanks to Barry Levine for interviewing Lori and to Susie & Ron Domb for hosting the event.  It was a very special evening as many family members of Lori’s were there to support and celebrate her.  Lori left us all with the profound message that the most important thing we can do in life is to always help one another.
